The main concern I have presented to me by moms is whether or not I’m going to be able to handle their children who always seem to be lovingly described as “a little rambunctious.” As a dad of three boys (12, 9, and 4 months), I’ve got TONS of practice, not to mention that I do this for a living! I’ve learned how to work with kids extremely well, and I do not need them to sit still and smile on command. Shy kids, wild kids, toddlers with a ten-second attention span, siblings who would rather wrestle—I work with what is actually happening and build the pictures around it. Want proof? Look at the kids below—not one of them look uncomfortable or like they don’t want to be there. (Don’t worry, I can do that with teens too 🙃).

That is normal. I do not need them to sit still and smile on command. I work with their attention span and energy, keep things moving, and build the photographs around what they are actually doing. If the parents allow me direct (and make sure they look in the camera rather than at their child), I always get the shot.

I’ll help you choose a location based on where you live, the ages of the kids, the season, the look you want, and the light at the time of the session.

You do not need matching outfits. Aim for colors that work together and clothes everyone can move in. If you are stuck between options, send them to me and I’ll help.

If the weather will hurt the pictures, we move the session. Colorado weather changes quickly, so I keep an eye on it and make the call with you.

Yes. For larger or extended-family groups, Portraits Plus is often the better fit because the extra time gives us room for the full group and smaller family combinations.
